How it all began

Our Story

September 2016

Northeastern University, Boston

The PB&J Incident

First week of freshman year. Melissa wandered into a friend's dorm room and asked if anyone had peanut butter and jelly. Satwik didn't have a single ingredient — but suddenly had very strong opinions about jam versus jelly, strawberry versus grape, sourdough versus white. He just wanted an excuse to keep her talking. It worked.

The Spikeball Slide

A few weeks later, Melissa slid into Satwik's DMs — on the intramural sports app, professionally — asking to join his spikeball team. Game recognizes game. He said yes immediately.

Scotland

Across the Atlantic

Melissa spent a semester studying abroad in Scotland. Satwik did not let a small thing like an ocean and missing a flight get in the way. Figured out how to get there for a weekend. Their first time abroad together.

Quarantine for Two

The world stopped in 2020 — but they didn't. Lockdown meant long days, longer conversations, and figuring out who they were to each other outside of campus life. Satwik emerged with a beard and hair that told its own story. They came out the other side closer than ever.

The Lavalier Ceremony

Satwik made Melissa an honorary brother of Delta Tau Delta — a lavalier ceremony, a fraternity tradition reserved for the person you want by your side. She said yes to that too.

Commencement

They crossed the stage together at Fenway Park — the same field where Satwik once worked, and where, years later, everything would come full circle.

Home

After years of the same city but separate apartments, they finally shared a front door. Turns out they were pretty good at that too.

Meeting the Family

Melissa flew to India to meet Satwik's entire extended family for the first time — aunts, uncles, cousins, all at once. She charmed every room, won every heart, and left no doubt she belonged.

The Fenway Proposal

Satwik rented out Fenway Park. The whole park. On the very field where he once worked, and where they both crossed the stage at commencement, he got down on one knee. On the Jumbotron: a video from both families, already celebrating. The most Boston thing imaginable — for a true Boston couple.

And Now, Forever

From a PB&J debate in a freshman dorm to a spikeball DM. From a transatlantic trip to Scotland to quarantine for two. From a lavalier ceremony at Northeastern to crossing the stage together at Fenway. From sharing a front door in Boston to meeting the whole family in India. From a ring on the field at Fenway Park to four days in the mountains with everyone they love, we are getting married. We can't wait to celebrate with you.
